Let's start with your Creatio experience, shall we?

Name:

Parminder Dhillon

Position:

Full Stack Developer

What is your role at Creatio?

As a full stack developer at Creatio, my role involves working on all aspects of our web apps and projects, from front-end development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to back-end development with languages like C# and SQL. I am responsible for designing and implementing new features, as well as maintaining and updating existing code bases to improve performance or to meet new requirements.

I specialise in handling all reg-assess-award grading requirements for our creatiogreen app, which requires me to add new features and make updates as needed to ensure compliance with industry standards.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part of being a full stack developer at Creatio is the opportunity to solve complex problems and create elegant solutions that deliver real value to our clients. Whether it's developing a new feature or fixing a tricky bug, I enjoy the challenge of finding the most efficient and effective way to tackle the problem.

Problem-solving is not just a job requirement for me, it's also something that I find inherently satisfying. I love the feeling of accomplishment that comes from overcoming a difficult technical challenge and delivering a high-quality product to our clients.

What’s your background?

My background is primarily in front-end development, where I've had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and projects, each with their own unique design and functionality requirements. Through these experiences, I gained a strong foundation in core front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as modern front-end frameworks such as React. In addition to my technical skills, I have also developed a deep understanding of design principles and user experience through my work in front-end development. In my previous role, I specialised in creating responsive layouts and intuitive user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while also ensuring that the designs were accessible and met web standards.

What energises you at work?

What energises me at work is the opportunity to tackle challenging problems and come up with creative solutions. As a full stack developer, I enjoy being able to work on both the front-end and back-end of our web applications, which allows me to see the big picture and understand how everything fits together. I find it especially rewarding when I am able to identify a complex issue and then come up with a solution that not only solves the problem but also enhances the user experience.

Wow, just wow! But now is where the fun starts and you get to meet us a bit more in depth!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

When I'm not working, I like to stay active and explore new places with my wife. We enjoy going for walks and hikes, and we love to discover hidden gems and new places to visit. I also like to hit the gym, as everyone who knows me at work knows I love to eat, so making sure I burn off all those calories is important.

In addition to staying active, I like to challenge myself by learning new skills. Whether it's picking up a new programming language or solving a new coding problem on leetcode.

And last but not least, I have to admit that I am a bit of a gamer at heart. I find that gaming is a great way to unwind and de-stress after a long day of work. My favourite game is Apex legends, I was hoping to make an apex legends team with my co-workers, but unfortunately no one plays it apart from me. Very sad.

What is the most interesting/unique or fun fact about you?

Most people are surprised to learn that I have a passion for rock music, particularly bands like Guns N' Roses, KISS and AC/DC despite not fitting the stereotype of a typical rock fan. When I'm not at work, you'll often find me at the gym with my headphones on, listening to my favourite tunes and channelling the energy into my workout. I even listen to rock music when coding, gets me in the zone.

Your most “useless” skill.

Now this is a funny one, my most useless skill is making a clown honking nose when touching my nose. You have to see me doing it in person to appreciate it, sounds great.

What do you think about Star Wars? Have you watched the movies?

I'm a huge Star Wars fan and consider myself a sci-fi geek. I've been hooked on the franchise since I was a kid and was ecstatic to discover that Creatio embraces Star Wars culture. It was like finding my true home!

However, I have to say that I'm a purist when it comes to the movies and much prefer the George Lucas adaptations to the newer Disney versions. Not sure what Disney was thinking with the new versions, really bad.

Are you a Spurs fan?

To borrow a famous line from Star Wars, “I will never turn to the dark side”. That’s how I feel about Tottenham. I am a massive Liverpool fan and have been since I was a kid. Unfortunately, my wife’s family are also Tottenham supporters, so its like I cant escape this team!

I can't deny that Tottenham aren't that bad, and I've grown to appreciate them as a team after seeing them play live, I suppose I would have to call them my second team now, the real enemy is Manchester United.

Your favourite podcasts/books/albums you can’t stop listening or talking about.

One podcast I can't get enough of is Joe Rogan's show. He always has such interesting guests and the conversations are long, so you really get to dive into the topics.

I'm also a big fan of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books. They're action-packed and keep me hooked until the end. I really enjoy a good book and Lee Child is one of my go-to authors.

And with that, we conclude our fourth edition of the "Meet the Team: Behind the Scenes" monthly series. We sincerely appreciate your engagement. Thank you for joining us!
