Lynsey Takes on Owen’s October Challenge
This October, our colleague Lynsey is going the extra mile — quite literally — for a very special reason.
Lynsey is taking part in Owen's October Challenge in support of her friends who sadly lost their teenage son, Owen, to cancer last year.
Owen was known for his fun-loving personality, his energy and his ability to make the most of life. Although his time was far too short, the impact he had on those around him continues to inspire something incredibly positive.
In his memory, family and friends have come together to turn their love for Owen into an opportunity to make a difference for others.
The Challenge: 5k Everyday
Throughout the month, Lynsey is joining more than 300 people who have committed to run, walk or swim 5km every single day, raising vital funds for PACT, a Sheffield-based charity supporting children with cancer and their families.
Together, they're hoping to raise an incredible £100,000 to help the charity continue its important work supporting families through some of the most difficult times imaginable.
What makes this challenge even more meaningful is that some days are specifically dedicated to individual young people — celebrating their lives and sharing their stories.
Making a Difference
It's also wonderful to see that support extending to our own team, with our colleague Sam joining Lynsey for one of the days to take on the challenge alongside her.
It's an incredible commitment and, more importantly, a beautiful way to honour Owen's memory while helping other young people and families facing similar challenges.
